Free GTR Academy...(For Europe...)
« on: Mar 04, 2011, 09:19 pm »

Right, what it said. Go to the GT Academy seasonal event, sign-up, post a lap time, and get a free car. That simple. But why not for U.S.?

I can't post in the car trading forum yet, but I would like to add I registered today, did a couple of laps - neither of which was a clean lap, and I still got the car  :?

I take it you are in Europe then?  Anyone from the states try this yet?  Just curious I am about to try it myself to see and will post results

My own earlier suspicions were correct, I really suck at time trials and pretty much this game as a whole.  First place is 2:17 and I was like 2:50 I think and no car for me.

You should still get the car, just for taking part, it doesn't matter what time you set... are you doing the same challenge as the rest of us? Where in the world do you live?

I believe so in the seasonal events and the GT time trial.  In the states, was hopeful it would work here too.

Well.. I think the reason behind this is because Sony doesn't want to pay to much for the guys that have to come from all over the world.. it's cheaper to get participants from Europe to Silverstone. Why? Read this:

Quote
This year’s European competition will run across 10 countries with the online gaming phase starting on 4th March and continuing until 17th April. Leaderboards for each participating territory will highlight the fastest 20 racers who will proceed to a live territory final. Only two from each final will make it to the intensive six-day driver training ‘Race Camp’ to be run at the world-famous Silverstone circuit. The winner of Race Camp will continue to be trained in high-performance Nissan race cars and compete in a series of national-level races in order to qualify for an international race licence and an entry into the Dubai race.

So.. yea... That's probably why only EU is allowed to do this.

I think this is the problem then, the free car is only awaded if you enter "GT Academy 2011 Round 1" in Seasonal Events... it says "This is event for GT Academy Participants. Only players of specified countries or regions can participate in this event"

Further into the menu for that event, it says "Only users with a PSN account registered in UK, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands can participate in this event"

Looks like the event you're playing is a different one, sadly with no car prize awarded.   :(
