Nascar at Daytona
« on: Feb 27, 2012, 12:46 pm »

After I got back from the Rammstein gig at weekend, I put the Daytona Nascar race on the TV just out of curiousity, and I gotta say that was actually some great racing, much more entertaining than I thought it would be! Especially the last lap pile-up that allowed 8th place 21yr old to dodge the carnage and take the win!   ;D

I've watched a couple races myself. Not the most exciting motorsport, but better than you'd expect it to be considering it's just a line of cars going around a big circle.

I'm actually starting to really appreciate the skill required... I used to think "Oh it's just roundy-roundy racing, foot down and turn left occasionally" but the more I watch it, the more I can see that there's a very specific and unique driving technique required to do this kind of racing, and I'm actually spending time on GT5 doing oval races in practice and arcade modes.   8)

And kudos to a motorsport that actually lets men and women compete against each other.   ;D
