Update 2.10 information
« on: Jan 16, 2013, 08:31 am »

A new update has been released for Gran Turismo 5.

The main contents of the update are as follows:

 - Adjusted Performance Point (PP) calculations to correct an issue where the speed of cars in races with PP restrictions would be unfairly set.

 - Adjusted the engine sound of the Honda weider HSV-010 (Super GT) '11.

 - Improved the force feedback control of the Thrustmaster TS500RS Steering wheel controller. This improvement will allow more accurate countersteering on dirt and while drifting.

I keep holding out for more realistic damage on premium cars, with a "professional" mode or something where you get tapped once and stuff gets smashed in, and pieces fall off. Now that would be a challenge, trying to finish a ten lap race in one piece.

I really think we will need to wait for GT6/PS4 for this, because it will require much more extra processing to handle it, which the PS3 can't allocate unless PD drop the requirements that GT5 currently demand from it.

If you look at NFS:Shift, the damage is much better recreated than GT5, but the environment rendering is nowehere near as demanding of the PS3.

They're probably more limited by the actual PS3 hardware than anything else. Hopefully the PS4 will have more advanced processors and stuff, so games can have their cake and eat it too. :D

I bought the PS3 for GT5, are you serious that I need to buy yet another console to play the sequel?

That way it becomes a big too expensive game lol

I don't know that for a fact. Just saying that you'd probably need to beef up the hardware before any game can render a rich environment, and still maintain good car physics (damage-wise). As it is with computers, the better your graphics card and processor, the better your gaming experience.

Well... I think PD really have exhausted the power of the PS3 with GT5... so I can't see them making GT6 on PS3 because it will just be "GT5 The Sequel" instead of actually moving the GT series forwards.

GT6 on PS4 would be the ideal launch title for the new console... only if PD can meet the deadline of course!   :P

Well PD better pull there finger out then because sourses say the new console aka PS4 is due out December 2013 roughly but I wouldn`t put money on it, as for PD`s launch of the new GT6 there`s random comments on google with random dates I would suggest a date of 2020 ish going by previous set backs.

update:-
I`ve just found this on the web

Kazunori Yamauchi Hints At Gran Turismo 6 On Next Gen

Kazunori Yamauchi has been speaking at the China Joy game event in Beijing this week and has discussed Gran Turismo 6 and Gran Turismo Vita.

The news for a Vita version was rather vague, “If we were to make it, we’d like to make use of the ability to play anywhere and the ability to use 3G at any time,” he said.

Surely it’s a case of when rather than if?

As for Gran Turismo 6, Yamauchi said they had been working on the framework for the game since the completition of Gran Turismo 5, adding “We’re always aiming for the latest technology and the latest expression.”

PlayStation 3, lovely as it is, could not be described as “the latest technology”.

Anyone had any issues after downloading this update?

I had no problems at all, over 3 different accounts on 2 different PS3's, but it seems some people are having problems after installing this download.

The problem manifests itself like this: After updating, the game tries to load, but gets stuck in a continuous loop at the startup screen where it says "saving data". It never gets past this stage.

Anyone stuck?

Nope, no issues at all.

But I've seen many people complaining about this specific loop error...
