1979 or earlier
« on: Jan 17, 2011, 03:11 pm »

I'm curious what car other people have used to win the classic (pre 1980) series in Expert.  I'm trying with a Toyota 7, fully tuned, but not having much luck - I just can't get it to handle the way I want.  The slightest touch of the ripple strip, or a dab of brake at the wrong time, and I'm sent spinning into the fence.

I used the 1974 Lamborghini Countach, It might not have as much bhp but with a few tweeks of the gears, it has enough speed and corners well enough to take 1st place!

Chaparrel 2J, no other pre-79 car handles as good as that one, cos it sucks itself into the ground like an F1 car. Once you have it, you'll walk it easy.

Yeah good call.  I have one of these, fully tuned.  I don't know why I haven't thought to give it a whirl, because it handles like a dream.  Thanks!

'66 Jaguar XJ13 handles superb, just give it more power and soft racing tyres... you will win both races easy.

I have to agree with the 2J.

Anytime I NEEDED a win, I busted out the 2J and had no problems.

This. It does win easily and it can be won in the Endurance series.
